The Bomb Diggity Ricotta Breakfast Toast

The time has come people...the time where your breakfast world gets rocked...for the better of course!  When I say this toast is the bomb diggity ricotta breakfast toast, I am not exaggerating...or maybe I am, but I don't think I am.  I think you will agree with me after you try it out.

It's creamy, sweet, savory, sweet again and then spicy all at the same time in every bite!  It is THE perfect breakfast combo in my book!  The textures are there, the flavor is there, and honestly you could switch it up with any of your favorite fruits and herbs!

My favorite combo happens to be with thyme and berries.  Oh man, it's so good AND...AND it's HEALTHY!!  That's right it's super healthy and a great way to start off your day.  It's a great balance of healthy carbs and protein to keep you full until lunch!

It's a quick fix in the morning, so you can whip it up in no time and make it to the office on time.  No one has extra time in the morning to be fixing up some elaborate breakfast, now do we?  I didn't think so.

Do yourselves a favor...try this out...fall in love...and then let's chat about our new found obsession together!

Satsuma Supper Club Begins

Satsuma Supper Club Begins...well began...it happened, and it was great!

Last Saturday Carol and I hosted the first Satsuma Supper Club!  It was the best night full of delicious yumminess!  A take on breakfast for dinner, Brinner to be exact, we took breakfast to a whole new level throwing a little fancy in the mix.  Sounds intriguing right?

We invited some ladies to join us in the festivities and everyone was told to "dress to impress."  The evening was full of gold shimmers, grapefruit hues, plenty of good bubbly, and pretty dresses.  We made everything ourselves including the décor and can't wait to share with you the DIY tips and recipes so that you can see how to create a unique dinner party for yourself!

The menu included two frittatas (prosciutto, asparagus, and pea, and a veggie with sun-dried tomatoes and goat cheese), garlic, white cheddar, and chive biscuits, grapefruit glazed doughnuts, coffee glazed French toast casserole and a refreshing grapefruit mimosa!

Deeelllishhh!

I know you probably want me to stop talking and get on to some visuals here, so here are some of the pictures from the night...

Five Doses of Happiness

Sometimes in my life I tend to not pay attention to the little things, these things that I take for granted.  Regular day to day activities or people that are responsible, in some part for my happiness on a daily basis.  Well lately, there are five doses of happiness in my everyday that are making me happy from the inside out.

Number One...

As silly as it is, something that is bringing me joy is a Free People vest that I recently bought when I went to New Orleans for the day.  It's beautiful really, and I fell in love as soon as I saw it.  Let the record state, I cannot be trusted to go into Free People without buying something.  I am not sure it has ever happened, which would be a reason that my husband would like me to stay far away...but let's be honest...that is a little too much to ask I think.

Anyway back to the vest, since living in it's new home in my closet, I have worn it once, but have tried it on almost everyday with a new option of how I can wear it (I wish I was kidding).  I have been reverting to my five year old self in my mom's closet with her high heels on.  The only reason I don't wear this vest everyday, is because really I just don't go enough places, but I think I just need to start wearing it to the grocery just because.  I can see it has a bright future as being my new go-to outfit, considering I have about 50 outfit options for it...thanks to my dressing up in the bedroom everyday.  I promise I do productive things throughout the day as well... :)

Healthier Shrimp Caesar Salad: My Diary of Us

Healthier Shrimp Caesar Salad

The weather went from crisp but perfectly warm Spring days to almost full on humid Summer heat in what seems like overnight!  Lately the thoughts of turning my oven on make me cringe because I know my air conditioner doesn't need any more work added to it's heavy lifting as it is.  And you know what, the worst is yet to come!  Nevertheless, Summer heat means salads will be making it to our table a few times a week and one of my all time favorite salads just so happens to be a Caesar Salad!  What I don't love is that usually when I order a Caesar salad out at a restaurant, I know that it can be super unhealthy and I might as well be eating a cheeseburger in most cases!  That's why I love making my own version at home!  Add my healthier shrimp Caesar salad to your weeknight routine and see just how easy it is to make right in your own kitchen!

When Dinner Meets Dessert

So I know I have been hinting at a major collaboration over the past two weeks.  Well today is the day that I am letting you in on the big secret...this is what happens when dinner meets dessert.

Let me introduce you to Carol Meche, author of the blog Crème de la Carol, a lifestyle blog filled with delicious baked treats, fashion, DIY projects, and life's moments.  Carol and I go back a couple of years where we worked together at Anthropologie, and have stayed good friends ever since.

And something VERY important about Carol is that she is one of the best bakers I have ever known...seriously some of the best cookies I have EVER eaten!  Well, anything she makes actually is divine!  Which is great for me since I rarely bake.  On top of that she has great witty humor and a fabulous sense of style that is totally different from mine...yet another reason we balance each other out.

Chatting with the Lovely Gaby Dalkin

Hey guys!  Today I have such a treat for you!  About a week ago, I was lucky enough to spend some time on the phone getting to know the crazy talented Gaby Dalkin (pictured above).  If you don't know her yet, you are going to want to check her out!  Gaby is the author of the popular blog What's Gaby Cooking and of the cookbook Absolutely Avocados.

She is exactly as she seems on her blog, bubbly, full of life, and has such a passion for food.  Her style of cooking has a southwestern flair and is relatively healthy using tons of fresh ingredients straight from the farmer's market!  Her one exception to her healthy dishes is the occasional indulgence of a decadent dessert!   Her dishes are super colorful and very doable for anyone!

In addition to being an amazing chef, Gaby is a lover of travel and experiencing culture through the food that she eats.  She's the best friend that you want to hang out with on  Friday night!  I could not have had more fun talking with her and I hope you guys will enjoy getting to know her also!

You have to go check out her cookbook and her blog, you will not be disappointed!

Here is the interview, enjoy!
