The holidays are upon us, and I don’t know about you but it truly is my favorite time of year! Family and friends gathering, crisp air, yummy food, and toasts to be made about the past year are just a few of the reasons that the holidays are so fun for me. With Layer Cake, throwing the perfect holiday gathering can be simple and beautiful! I love to entertain and truly believe that nothing brings people together more than eating and drinking together. And the good news is, entertaining doesn’t have to be stressful when you have a few tricks up your sleeve to make the day of the party a breeze!

These three recipes to simplify your Thanksgiving are going to help you feel like a rockstar in the kitchen when turkey day arrives!
At this time of year, warm and cozy dishes seem to get all of the attention! From soups, to pastas, and everything in between, it feels like sometimes we forget about eating salads during this season! I don’t know about you, but I still crave some freshness in the midst of all the cozy! A good fall salad is one of my favorite dishes to make and I took one of my favorite wedge salads and turned it into the most delicious autumn wedge salad that you have ever tasted! My Autumn wedge salad with green goddess dressing is perfect for any night of the week, but also makes a great addition to any holiday menu too!
Okay we are sixteen days away from Thanksgiving y’all…can you believe it? Are you already menu planning? We will be heading to Louisiana to be with family, but I am always responsible for a few sides to bring to the table. I like to add some green to the mix whenever I can and while green beans are usually a classic, brussel sprouts make for another great vegetable option! My citrus bacon brussel sprouts are going to steal the show in the sides category and will convert even the non-brussel sprouts lovers in your family!
Halloween is this week and we got in the spirit by carving pumpkins over the weekend! Parks wanted no part of scooping out the insides (ha) but he was super into helping daddy decide on the facial expressions that each pumpkin should have! We went with one silly face and one spooky face, by request! Do you have traditions each year that your family does for Halloween? Carving pumpkins is definitely one of those things for us along with making a big pot of chili on the actual day of Halloween! My easy homemade beef chili is the perfect soup to make this week to warm you up after you and your kiddos have been trick or treating!
Are you over pumpkin recipes yet? I feel like I’m just getting started so I hope that you are on the same pumpkin loving page as me! I seriously cannot believe that Halloween is next week and then October will be over! This year is passing at a incredibly fast pace and while I am totally ready to put up my Christmas tree (ha), I also don’t want to rush these last months of the year! It finally feels somewhat like fall here in Texas, which at least makes me feel like it could be Halloween next week, and I am definitely embracing a little chill in the air! The weather has had me in a baking mood all week long and since the hubby’s favorite sweet treat is a cupcake, I made some scrumptious pumpkin cupcakes that needed to be shared with you! My pumpkin cupcakes with spiced cream cheese frosting are going to be on repeat in your kitchen all season long!
