I grew up in Tennessee and homemade biscuits were something that were weekend regulars at breakfast time. If you grew up in the south too, a good biscuit was probably a part of your childhood memories as well and maybe even if you didn’t grow up in the south! There really isn’t anything quite like a warm biscuit spread with a butter and a little jam or honey fresh out of the oven to start the day. I can’t really think of anything better to add to a brunch menu than homemade biscuits and if you are planning a nice stay at home Mother’s Day brunch, then these biscuits would be just perfect! While it took me years of being adult to actually start making my own biscuits, now that I do I see just how easy it really is and I can’t wait to show you how to do it too. Easy homemade biscuits will have you channeling your inner Ina (or in my case my Great Aunt Blanche) and they will come out perfect every single time.
I love the idea of starting my day off with greens. I feel like it sets the tone for the day and makes me feel really good after I eat them. Breakfast salads are becoming more popular for this reason and I love that you can truly use salad as a base for all of your favorite breakfast foods! From eggs, potatoes, more veggies, avocado, and more the possibilities are endless for breakfast salads! It’s another great way to meal prep at the beginning of the week and have a healthy breakfast ready when you are every single morning! My Spanish chorizo summer breakfast salad is the perfect dish to help you switch up your regular breakfast routine!

A few weeks ago I met up with my fellow team members of #TeamNosh in Colorado for our first ever retreat where we all got to hang out (some of us for the first time in person)! We ate, we worked, we chatted, we collaborated, and we honestly had the most lovely time with each other and left feeling like we had known each other for years! It was such a pleasure being around women who I knew virtually to be really great, but then in person were even better than I had thought! We stayed in a gorgeous airbnb that had a refrigerator the size of my house, which was a good thing because when you get six food bloggers together, there is bound to be a lot of delicious food to be had!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks around here and work has been all over the place because we have had family in town and that always takes priority! Plus I had my first ever local live TV appearance (woohoo)!! Today life is getting back to normal and I am realizing that the holidays are literally right around the corner and I’m freaking out a little bit! I feel like after Halloween comes, the rest of the year quickly disappears also! So needless to say, I am currently in full holiday recipe mode so that I can get you some fresh new recipes for all of your holiday gatherings! BUT first I have the most epic brunch recipe that you are going to want to make whether its the holidays or not! My scallops and parmesan thyme grits are a restaurant quality dish that anyone can make right in their own kitchen no matter what level of cooking skills you have!
Last night we went to the Houston Rodeo and after almost three years of living here, can officially call ourselves Texans! We ate turkey legs, sausages and peppers, drank some really cold beer, saw livestock, the rodeo, and finished the night off with a little live music and The Zac Brown Band. I don't think we have ever had a Monday date night, but it sure was fun to get out for the night and go experience a quintessential Texas tradition! I am a little slow moving this morning as I get going, and I am going to be all about seriously quick and simple eats today! My easy lox and herbed cream cheese naan pizzas are just the thing that I want to eat on a morning like this!
I honestly cannot believe that we are a week away from Christmas already! This year went by so quickly guys, I literally cannot get over it. We are heading to my parents house this week and I am so ready for a little vacation and downtime with my family! My mom is one of those people who just makes Christmas so magical, which is why it has always been my favorite holiday. So many memories of family traditions including delicious meals are still so strong in my mind! I hope that I can make Christmas just as magical for Parks year after year so that he grows up with the same love for the holidays! One of my most favorite meals during the Christmas season is brunch! I love starting the day off with a yummy meal that, besides the obvious cheese board that will most definitely happen, will keep our tummies full until dinner rolls around! I've rounded up my top Christmas brunch favorites so that you can host the ultimate brunch for your family and friends this year!
