Caipirinha Crush: My Diary of Us

Caipirinha Crush

Remember that Brazilian drink that I told you I drank while we were in Miami?  It's basically like the Margarita of Brazil and I'm slightly obsessed.  Since I have had a hard time getting back into the swing of things from vacation I decided that I would whip up a batch of my new favorite drink and pretend I am still on vacay.  That's acceptable right?  These caipirinha crush's are so easy to make and super refreshing too.

It's made with a Brazilian rum called Cachaca which is made from sugar cane, you sweeten it with sugar or agave in this case, and lots of fresh lime juice.  If you love margaritas, I am going to go ahead and say that you will love this drink and it just might...just might...give your margarita a run for it's money.

Miami: My Diary of Us

Miami

Until February of this year I had only been to Miami once when I was in high school and I clearly did not experience the city the way it should be experienced.  I had no idea that all of the images in my head of nothing but thongs on beaches, intimidatingly beautiful people, and expensive cars lining the streets, that while true, was not all that defined this city.

There is culture, amazing food, an eclectic mix of people, and normal life that happens everyday.  While South Beach is definitely something to see and experience, we tend to like it better where our friend Sean lives in the area called North Beach.  It's literally fifteen minutes from South Beach, but much more down to earth and approachable.  There is still amazing food, the beach is right in front of you, and Sean's place has an amazing bay view of the water.

Miami: My Diary of Us

Leaving On a Jet Plane

I don't know if you feel like this or not, but the couple of days before vacation are always insane for me.  There is so much to do to prepare for leaving that I always find myself running around like a crazy person to get everything ready before we head out.  Over the weekend I did about thirteen loads of laundry, cleaned the house, bathed the dogs and washed their beds, had to get some writing and photography work done since I'll be out of pocket for the week, and of course I had to pack, which is always a thing with me.

I know you may be thinking that some of things wouldn't necessarily have to be done, but I have to clean the house before we go out of town because I get anxiety about leaving if everything isn't in order.  Also my sister-in-law is dog sitting for us and I like everything to be nice for her including the boys (Amos and Rutledge) smelling their freshest.

The Sunshine State Part Two: Miami

I had always imagined Miami to be the city that never sleeps, full of wild parties, white beaches, and beautiful people.  Turns out, that was a pretty close assumption.

But...there is also a whole lot more, like amazing food, culture, and it's a great place to live an active lifestyle.  We had the best time and really enjoyed Miami even more than we thought we would have.

We have a friend who has lived there for a while now, and we decided since we were going to be so close already in Palm Beach, we would test out the Miami waters as well and were not disappointed.

First let me tell you that we consumed some of the best food and I have too much to share with you to squeeze it in this post, but don't worry I'll post another day...
