I have a few go-to cooking oils that I like to have on hand at all times. One of those oils happens to be sesame oil because I love the flavor that it can give food and because of the health benefits too! Even more than that, I love to find oils that are sourced responsibly and if they have a story behind the brand, even better. I recently discovered PURA Collective and their Ecotierra Organic Extra Virgin Sesame Oil and Organic Toasted Sesame Oils and fell in love with the flavor, quality, and the mission behind this company. After getting to know more about PURA Collective and tasting these oils, I developed this spicy garlic sesame chicken using their Ecotierra Extra Virgin Sesame oil that is the perfect weeknight meal for the whole family!
PURA Collective is a social enterprise with a focus on empowering low income farmers and their communities worldwide. They connect local producers to the international market to bring us the highest quality, organic, fair trade, sustainably-farmed products, which is super important to me! They give back to the communities who produce these foods, so that the next generation will be self-sufficient and the land can remain protected. How awesome is that? I just love everything about what they are doing for farmers, their children, and the land that they currently live and make a living off of!
It is pretty amazing to me that PURA is actually breaking the cycle of poverty in rural areas where poverty is the norm. They work closely with farmers and their families to make sure they are are able to better their standard of living! This means they won't have to migrate to cities to find other jobs, which ultimately mean families can stay together!
The sesame seeds are grown in Mexico and Ecotierra Organic Extra Virgin Sesame Oil is made from sesame seeds that have been roasted and pressed at a low temperature, is minimally processed and has zero additives. This sesame oil is great for cooking and mixes so well with ghee, coconut oil, avocado oil, and olive oil! I loved the extra flavor and depth that is gave to my spicy garlic sesame chicken and I think you all will love it too!
Just so you know by choosing Ecotierra® Organic Sesame Oil, you will be supporting the indigenous farmers and their communities in Oaxaca, Mexico. Just even one bottle of sesame oil will help them continue their farming and will help the next generation to come. PURA Collective actually will give back 1 % of the sales to the community as a scholarship for the students to study Sustainable Farming in college. The list of amazing reason why you should buy a bottle of this oil just keep going on and on!
To help this brand new company get their feet off the ground in a big way, you can check out their kickstarter campaign and see just how you can contribute to their mission through January 16,2019! Simply head to PURA Collective's website to find out more information and check out their products first hand!
On top of all of that, the oil is just really great quality and I know you are going to love having it as a staple in your pantry! Make my spicy garlic sesame chicken as soon as you get a bottle because you are going to want to include this recipe into your weekly rotation!
