Grilled Cajun Lobster Rolls

This post is sponsored by Tony Chachere’s, but all opinions are 100% my own.

If you love a classic lobster roll, you’re going to want to try this Cajun twist. These Grilled Cajun Lobster Rolls are loaded with tender grilled lobster and then tossed with a delicious Cajun dressing and piled high into a buttery roll for the perfect mix of both your favorite styles of lobster rolls. I used my favorite Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning to make these lobster rolls extra special and flavorful, it’s the kind of meal that feels a little special without a whole lot of work.

I love taking a classic recipe and giving it new life with a little Cajun flair. These lobster rolls are fresh, flavorful, a little spicy, and incredibly easy to put together.

Why You’ll Love These Lobster Rolls

There’s something about a lobster roll that feels like summer, but adding Cajun Flavors with the grilled smokiness of the lobster makes this version completely irresistible.

The lobster is the star of the show, while a creamy Cajun dressing adds plenty of flavor without overpowering the sweet, delicate lobster meat. Everything gets tucked into toasted, buttery rolls for the perfect combination of creamy, crunchy, and buttery in every bite. This is the perfect lobster roll for those of us who can’t decide if the classic Maine or Connecticut lobster roll is the favorite.

These are especially good for a summer lunch, an easy dinner, or when you’re entertaining and want something that feels impressive without spending hours in the kitchen.

Tips for Making the Best Lobster Rolls

Don’t overdress the lobster. You want enough creamy dressing to coat the lobster, but the lobster should still be the star.

Use fresh lemon juice. It adds a noticeable brightness to the Cajun dressing.

Toast the buns in butter. This is one step that you have to complete. A warm, golden buttery bun takes these to the next level.

Adjust the spice to your taste. You can adjust the Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning to your specific spice level.

Serve them right away. Lobster rolls are best served with the lobster mixture has cooled, but the buns are nice and warm.

What to Serve with Grilled Cajun Lobster Rolls

  • Chips

  • Homemade fries

  • Coleslaw

  • Simple salad

  • Fresh fruit

  • Corn on the cob

  • Cajun-Seasoned roasted potatoes

Can you Make Cajun Lobster Rolls Ahead of Time?

You can prepare the lobster mixture a few hours ahead of time and refrigerate until serving time. But buns should be cooked right before serving.

These Grilled Cajun Lobster Rolls are a delicious way to enjoy those last days of summer and you are going to love serving them up to your friends and family.

Grilled lobster tails to make grilled Cajun lobster rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 6 Lobster Tails

  • 1/4 Cup Butter, melted

  • 1 Tsp. Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning

  • Split Buns or Hot Dog Buns

For the dressing-

  • 1/2 Cup Mayonnaise

  • 2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice

  • 1 Tsp. Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning

  • 2 Stalks Diced Celery

  • 1/4 Cup Chopped Chives

Directions:

  • Preheat grill to medium high heat.

  • Use kitchen shears and cut down the center of the lobster lengthwise, stopping at the tail fins. Use a butter knife to gently loosen lobster meat from the shell, leaving the end attached to the tail. Insert a skewer through the lobster so it stays flat on the grill.

  • Mix together 2 tbsp. Melted butter with 1 tsp. Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning.

  • Add lobster tails to the grill, flesh side down and cook for 5-6 minutes.

  • Flip them shell side down and brush the meat with the butter and seasoning mixture. Cook for another 5 minutes.

  • Remove the lobster tails and let them cool.

  • Meanwhile, mix together mayonnaise, lemon juice, Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning, celery, and chives and set aside.

  • Remove the cooled lobster meat from the shell and give it a slight chop. Mix the meat with the half of the mayo mixture until coated. Reserve the other half for dipping or adding extra when serving.

  • Take the remaining butter and brush the buns to toast them until browned.

  • Layer plenty of the lobster meat into each bun and top with a little extra Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning and chives to serve.
