Range and Sea: My Diary of Us

Range and Sea

Hi guys!  How was your weekend?  Mine was pretty great.  It was filled with a my sister-in-law's baby shower, a Christmas party, baking cookies and doo-dads, and some lazy couch time with Canean.  I realized that I haven't even had time to share with you some of my favorite images from my road trip that I went on in November because my schedule has been so crazy for the past month or so.  The trip from California to Oregeon was one of the most beautiful that I have ever been on and I just had to share with you a few of my favorite images of some of the gorgeous places that I saw!  From Range to Sea, I am still not sure what my favorite thing was.

I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to experience such beauty and parts of the country that I had, up until this trip had only seen on postcards and in movies.  From the mountains, to the ocean, and everything in between I was utterly gobsmacked at what I saw in every new place that we drove through.

Hobe Sound: My Diary of Us

Hobe Sound

We spent the second half of our week in the cutest beach town called Hobe Sound.  Our friends Meg and Mike live there with their brand new baby, Asher.  We fell in love with this sleepy little town when we visited them in February, and could not wait to get back!  The laid back vibe was the perfect end to our week in South Florida.  We did all of our favorite things with two of our favorite people and just reconfirmed that we wished they lived closer to us.

You know those friends that it's just easy when you visit each other?  No one expects too much, everyone can go with the flow, and both you and your spouse like the other couple equally as much?  That's how it is with us.

Miami: My Diary of Us

Miami

Until February of this year I had only been to Miami once when I was in high school and I clearly did not experience the city the way it should be experienced.  I had no idea that all of the images in my head of nothing but thongs on beaches, intimidatingly beautiful people, and expensive cars lining the streets, that while true, was not all that defined this city.

There is culture, amazing food, an eclectic mix of people, and normal life that happens everyday.  While South Beach is definitely something to see and experience, we tend to like it better where our friend Sean lives in the area called North Beach.  It's literally fifteen minutes from South Beach, but much more down to earth and approachable.  There is still amazing food, the beach is right in front of you, and Sean's place has an amazing bay view of the water.

Miami: My Diary of Us

Leaving On a Jet Plane

I don't know if you feel like this or not, but the couple of days before vacation are always insane for me.  There is so much to do to prepare for leaving that I always find myself running around like a crazy person to get everything ready before we head out.  Over the weekend I did about thirteen loads of laundry, cleaned the house, bathed the dogs and washed their beds, had to get some writing and photography work done since I'll be out of pocket for the week, and of course I had to pack, which is always a thing with me.

I know you may be thinking that some of things wouldn't necessarily have to be done, but I have to clean the house before we go out of town because I get anxiety about leaving if everything isn't in order.  Also my sister-in-law is dog sitting for us and I like everything to be nice for her including the boys (Amos and Rutledge) smelling their freshest.

Boots: My Diary of Us

Texas, Boots, and Antiques

Last week I headed to Warrenton, Texas for a weekend full of boot wearing days, antique shopping, and some quality time with my mama.  It's a tradition that I meet her there twice a year, once in the Spring, and once in the Fall and it's so much fun!  If you don't know what I'm talking about, you might be more familiar with Round Top, Texas which is basically the same, they are neighboring little towns but both are part of the huge antique show that goes on there.

There are miles and miles of tents and vendors set up with their antiques and hand made crafts and there are smells of kettle corn and BBQ filling the air!  If you have never been, you need to make it happen!  They have the best furniture, if you are looking for anything for your home and have the widest range of items all mashed together in a way that works.

A Girl's Weekend in Arizona: My Diary of Us

A Girl's Weekend in Arizona

Somewhere between college and now, my best friends have sprinkled themselves across the country.  We all got older, each moved to a different state, and don't get to see each other nearly enough for my liking.  We get to see each other about once a year if that, but when it does happen it's amazing.  We revert to our 20 year old selves, or in some cases our 15 year old selves.  Things pick right back up where we left off and it feeds my soul in the best way possible.  Last weekend I headed to Arizona to see my friend Teresa, a friend from college who from the moment we had the same class together we became inseparable.  A girl's weekend in Arizona was totally necessary for both of us.

We hiked gorgeous routes Saturday and Sunday, got pedicures, laid by the pool, ate Italian food and cooked some serious meals for her to freeze.

It was a quick trip and neither of us were ready for it to end, but I'll take what I can get!  I'm already ready to go back and it's only been two days.

We started out Friday by shopping (of course) and then ended the day with chips and guacamole, a margarita for me, water with lemon for her, and then grabbed yogurt on the way home, because I'll use any excuse to get yogurt.  Excuses like my friend is pregnant and she NEEDS me to eat yogurt with her.
