Mom's 5 O'Clock Citrus Vodka Soda

Yesterday was one of those days...  We started off with a doctor's appointment for Parks in the morning which went great, but then messed up his nap schedule for the whole day.  And by messed up I mean he boycotted naps for the rest of the day.  This led to me chasing around a now mobile baby, eating two meals standing up, and trying to shoot two recipes all the while keeping a tired baby from being cranky!  Needless to say I was ready for Canean to get home last night so mommy could have a break.  Can I just say, thank goodness for cocktails and my mom's 5 o'clock citrus vodka soda!

A few weeks ago my mom came to visit and she introduced me to her new favorite summertime cocktail.  I was hooked with the first sip!  It's so refreshing guys!   It's kind of dangerous because you could drink it like water...but don't, or do depending on your day.  There is no judgement here.

This drink is the perfect cocktail to whip up during the heat wave that most of us are experiencing right now!  The heat index here in Texas is going to be 110 degrees today, with no relief in sight!  (I'm sweating just thinking about it.)  When it's this hot out is there anything else to do to beat the heat besides drinking cocktails or sitting by the pool...or if you are lucky, both?

You are going to love this twist on the classic vodka soda cocktail and I promise you are going to be making this one for the rest of the summer!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Oz. Deep Eddy's Grapefruit Vodka

  • Fresh Orange Slices

  • Fresh Lime Slices

  • Fresh Grapefruit Slices

  • Soda Water

Directions:

  • Fill your glass with crushed ice.

  • Pour grapefruit vodka over the ice.

  • Squeeze 1 slice of orange, lime, and grapefruit into the glass.

  • Fill the rest of the glass with soda water.

  • Serve immediately and garnish with more fruit slices.

This drink is going to change your happy hour!  I can't wait for you to try it out!  Cheers!
