I feel like I almost forgot how this whole blogging thing goes. The past five months have been a whirlwind and I feel like I am finally getting back to a little normalcy around here. Between having a baby, completing my first cookbook, and trying to be a somewhat good wife, I haven't had much time to just be, let alone blog. I have missed this (and you) so much and cannot wait to share with you some new recipes that I am excited about right now! For now though here's a little recap of what I've been doing for the past five months!
By now you know I had a baby, and oh my gosh guys, Parks three weeks away from being 6 months old! How has half a year almost passed me by? I cannot tell you how much I love him...honestly he is the best. He is getting so full of personality and he just gets more curious by the day. He is currently rolling from his tummy to his back, but is still working on doing the opposite. His little shoulder gets in the way and he just can't quite figure out how to get himself all the way back to his tummy. He laughs all the time, and just thinks mommy and daddy are the funniest. He slept through the night at two months old and then bam four months hit and the dreaded four month sleep regression came at us hard. It was rough, I am not gonna lie, but I think we are finally getting back to our normal sleeping habits...thank goodness! Mama needs her sleep!
We also started solid foods a couple of weeks ago, and he is loving them! So far, avocado, pear, banana, apple, sweet potato, and green beans have been on the menu and he loves them all! I am getting more than pumped to start creating some super fun baby food concoctions, but for now am waiting for his tummy to continue to get used to eating solids regularly first. I will tell you that next month you can expect to see a baby food post once a month for those of you who are interested! And those of you who are like "come on man"...sorry you can just skip over those posts. I promise I won't make it all about baby all the time!
I think I must have been delusional when I thought that cooking, styling, and photographing my first cookbook wouldn't be a challenge with a newborn....clearly I knew zero about babies. True statement...I literally knew nothing about babies and how much time I would need to devote to him and how much he would need me. Makes sense, but for some reason in my head I was clueless. Needless to say, if I didn't have a super supportive husband who happens to be a rock star in the dad department, I would never have finished my cookbook by the deadline!
Seriously since October I have been covered in spit up and leftover food from all the cooking I was doing and probably smelled like a mix of the two....sexy I know. Bless Canean's heart for loving me through it all. I am sure I had a few less than gracious moments, no I am sure I did. When I was stressed, he just kept on keeping on with a smile through it all, telling me it would all be worth it in the end. And he was right, it was worth it and will be worth it! I can look back and say I did it all with a newborn, while my body healed, and with little to no sleep at times.
Between changing diapers, creating recipes, and everything else that comes with it, it left me with zero time to come here to my happy place where I connect with you and share with you my life and the food that I am loving currently. I hope that you have missed me as much as I have missed you, but if not, don't tell me.
Currently, I am finally making time for me again and it feels amazing. Since Parks was born I haven't had time for fitness and for eating really healthy to the extent that I have wanted to. This week I have been brainstorming for My Diary of Us, eating super healthy, and have made time to exercise every single day. I am sore all over my body and had no idea how out of shape I really was, but it also feels great.
You can bet on some healthy recipes coming to the blog starting next week because that's what we are eating around here and it's what I am excited about cooking right now! I hope you are excited that I am back and I hope that you didn't starve without me! Thank you for your patience, your support, and for connecting with me through this screen where I ramble and you listen!
P.S. Anyone else feel like they are just officially starting 2016? Or is that just me?
