Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day.

A single day where we are supposed to tell and show the person we love how much they mean to us.

An unexpected gesture, a gift, a night out at a fancy restaurant...I guess all of this shows someone that you love them?

Personally for me, I use Valentine's Day as an excuse to eat as much chocolate as I want and I like to pretend the calories don't count.  That IS how it works you know.  Holidays cancel out calories.

I don't really need an extravagant gift, an overpriced dinner, or any more affirmation of how much Canean loves me for this one day just because it is Valentine's Day.  He tells me everyday that he loves me and does sweet things to show me how much I mean to him.  I hope that I in return also show him on a daily basis how much I love him and what his love means to me.

Don't get me wrong it is still nice to have a little Valentine's surprise or a sweet little note left for me in the morning, but that's all I really need.  The point I am trying to make is we should all be showing our significant others how much they mean to us every day, not just because a holiday tells us to or reminds us that we should.

Let's face it...life gets busy, schedules conflict, all of this stuff happens and before you know it you have gone the whole day/week/month and haven't told your other half how much they mean to you, that you love them, or maybe even kissed them.  It happens to us all because it  takes a conscious effort everyday to remember to do so, no matter how in love with someone you are.

So this week, take notice.  Take notice of that person next to you everyday battling through life by your side.  Take notice of the little things that you forgot you loved about them.  Lift them up when the least expect it,  pick up those dirty underwear on the bathroom floor without uttering a word (even though you have had the conversation 100 times about not leaving them on the floor), and grab the face of the one you don't want to live without and kiss them long, kiss them sweet, and kiss them hard.  Cherish them for all they mean to you.

For me, my Valentine comes home this week (FOR GOOD!!) and I'm going to take advantage of every day I have with him, because being apart has sucked.

I'm going to squeeze him, kiss him, and never let him go!

I challenge all of you to do the same.

I think every day should have a little Valentine's Day in it including the chocolate...
