Christmas is 12 days away! I repeat, 12 days away! AHHHHH. I mean I’m so excited for it, but I also have about a bajillion things on my to-do list to get done before we go to my parents house next weekend! I feel like I am alway so excited for the holidays and then BAM it’s over in a flash! I wish we could just pause the actual week of Christmas and put it in slow motion so we could soak it up just a little bit more! Things like soaking up time with friends and family, savoring good food, and sipping festive cocktails! My meyer lemon bourbon mule is one of those cocktails that you should definitely be sipping during all of your holiday festivities!
This has been the never ending week guys...I don't know what is going on, but I could not be any more excited that tomorrow is Friday! Between being a mom to a toddler and all that comes with it, all the while trying to balance a busy work week, it's just been one of those challenging mama weeks around our house! One thing that I always have on hand for an afternoon pick me up is kombucha! I seriously love this stuff and it definitely gives me a little energy boost when I need it most! I don't know why it has never dawned on me until now to put a little booze in it, but man I am glad I finally did! My persimmon and rosemary boozy booch is the perfect fall cocktail to kick off your weekend!
Happy holidays everyone! How was your Christmas? I hope it was wonderful and filled with so much love. Ours was interesting to say the least! We went to Louisiana for Christmas Eve and that was great, other than the fact that Parks currently has a little cold and was slightly fussier than usual. We left on Christmas Day to come back home and brought home stomach bugs for me and Canean that lasted for two days. Not quite the Christmas I had in mind, so never the less we are having a do-over for New Year's Eve! I am going to try my hand at making homemade pasta for the first time and will be whipping up something with bubbly for a cocktail! Here's a list of my top ten festive New Year's Eve Cocktails!
appy Thursday friends! One more day and we have made it to the weekend...hallelujah! My mom is in town and although I will be working quite a bit this weekend, Canean and I are going to sneak away for a much needed date night tomorrow night and I am pretty excited about a baby free night in the city. We don't live near any family so sometimes it is hard to get a free night away so we are taking full advantage of Gram being in town! My weekend plans will also involve some last minute Christmas shopping with my mama and a few of these apple cider Pimm's cups!
You guyyyysss...Thanksgiving is officially two weeks away! Are you freaking out? I have a confession...I am not freaking out at all because this year it's just me and my boys at home by ourselves! That doesn't mean that I am not going to be making a full on spread, because hello leftovers, but it just means there is no pressure because I won't have a house full of people! I will however be whipping up cocktails! My pomegranate ginger sparkler is the perfect festive cocktail for your holiday menu!
The house we live in was built in 1910 and was built off of the ground, as most houses in Louisiana are, and while it's character and charm are what we love most there is a downside. When it gets below 55ish degrees outside, you can bet that it is cold in the house and it's really hard to keep warm. The floors hold no heat so slippers are a must...and layers, lots of layers...and a glass of mulled wine helps too.
I know that I am a complete an utter sissy when it comes to being cold. I don't know if I could make it in a place that actually got cold weather. I attribute that to living in Louisiana for too long. We don't really get winters. Most Christmases are spent, if we are lucky wearing light jackets. It isn't until January that we have a smidge of winter weather.
But in my case 50 degrees in winter enough for me and plenty of reason to build a fire and make some mulled wine. This week there has been a nip in the air, enough for me to turn the heat on and cozy up with a blanket every night. Add some spiced warm wine and you almost forget that your feet are freezing.
